Pointers from Pigott
Is your cutting board slipping while you're trying to cut chicken with a sharp knife? This is extremely dangerous!
If you're like me, you worry about cross contamination and will only use color coded cutting boards. My wooden cutting board is reserved for bread and items that won't fill the porous wood and make my family sick. (ie: chicken, meats, etc)
The color coded cutting boards are a great invention but no one told me how to keep them from "slip sliding away". Until......
The answer was so simple it's ingenious. Put a wet paper towel down before you put your cutting board on the counter. The wet towel stabilizes the cutting board so your cuts are reserved for cooking and not your fingers.
When I was growing up, there was a newspaper column that I was always eager to read, "Hints from Heloise". Some of the tips were very cleaver while others were just published for humor. I'd like to find a balance between the two and share "Pointers from Pigott" once a week on this blog. (see what I did? - how fun, no?)
So keeping you safe from your slipping cutting board was a Pointer from Pigott.
