Chocolate Covered Cherry Bars

Valentine's Day is this week and I wanted to make something easy and tasty. This is my nod to Semi-Homemade and the entire dish can be made is less then 45 minutes.

When I think of a rich dessert, I think chocolate, Nutella, tart cherries and port wine. This dessert has all of them in one cookie bar.

Let's get baking you'll need:

1 Better Crocker Chocolate Hazelnut Cream Cookie Mix

1/2 cup chocolate chips

6 tbsp Nutella

1 cup frozen tart cherries- chopped

1/4 cup port wine (optional)

powder sugar glaze to finish (powdered sugar with a splash of heavy cream)

Make the cookie mix according to the package.

Take half of the mixture and press down into a 9x12 baking dish. Hint: if you spray vegetable spray on a rubber spatula, you can press down the down without it sticking. On top of the mixture, sprinkle the chocolate chips and dot with the Nutella evenly.

Allow the cherries to sit in the port wine while you're preparing the cookie mixture. Drain the cherries but KEEP THE WINE. Drop the cherries on top of the chocolate chips and drizzle the wine on top.

By spoonful, put dollops of the remainder cookie dough on top of the cherry mixture.

Bake 350 degrees for 23-25 mins. (you'll know it's done when you insert a toothpick and it comes out clean). Allow to cool and sprinkle powdered sugar on top.

Nothing wrong with a chocolate cookie bar filled with Nutella, chocolate chips and tart cherries. Pour yourself and your Valentine a glass of port wine, light some candles and enjoy!
