Orange Tres Leches with a fudge drizzle
This was my first attempt at making this delicious cake and it won't be my last. I wanted to make a mini size so if it turned out yucky, I didn't waste all the ingredients. Pleasantly, my hubby loved this cake and asked me to make it again for him.
I thought it would be fun to combine his favorite combination, chocolate, and orange, into a dessert. You can make this into a full-size cake or recreate this recipe and keep it mini.
Here's what you'll need:
1 1/2 c flour (sifted, yes I still sift my flour)
1 tsp baking powder
1 c sugar
1/2 c butter (softened)
5 eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 c whole milk
1 orange zest only
drizzle of Hershey's fudge
1 can condensed milk
1 can of evaporated milk
1 1/2 c heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla
Combine butter and sugar, until it's light and fluffy. Add vanilla and the eggs (one at a time, whipping after each egg). Sift the dry ingredients together and slowly add to the wet. Spray with baking spray (or butter and flour) your baking pan and bake until done.
Add the milk, condensed milk, and evaporated milk and set aside. When the cake is baked and cooled for a few minutes, stick a straw into the cake, making holes for the milk. Slowly pour the 3 milk"tres leches" over the cake and allow it to soak in. Cool the cake completely, (make sure you put the leftover cake in the refrigerator).
Whip the heavy cream and the vanilla to make a fluffy topping for the cake.
Drizzle the fudge and top with orange zest.
Enjoy!
